A former diversity program manager at Facebook and Nike was sentenced to five years and three months in prison after pleading guilty to stealing more than $5 million to fund her luxury lifestyle. Furlow-Smiles shamelessly violated her position of trust as a DEI executive at Facebook to steal millions from the company utilizing a scheme involving fraudulent vendors, fake invoices, and cash kickbacks. After being terminated from Facebook, she brazenly continued the fraud as a DEI leader at Nike, where she stole another six-figure sum from their diversity program. In that role, she had access to the company's credit cards and the authority to make purchases and approve invoices for Facebook's vendors. She used her position to pay friends, family, and other associates for items and services that were never given to Facebook.

Noland Arbaugh received the implant in January, but things didn't go to plan. Weeks after the procedure, some of the device's wires pulled away from his brain. A Reuters report said Neuralink knew the wires could retract from its device after it carried out tests on animals. Neuralink decided the device didn't need to be reconfigured as it believed the risk of the wires retracting was low. Elon Musk's company carried out experiments on animals, including monkeys, before it got approval last May from the US Food and Drug Administration to conduct human trials. It's starting by testing the implant, called "The Link," on people with paralysis to enable them to control devices using their thoughts. The Link has more than 1,000 electrodes and at least 64 wires each thinner than a strand of human hair, some of which pulled out of position. That caused the impact to be less effective, which resulted in a weaker control of Arbaugh's ability to move a cursor around a computer screen.

One day after Mark Zuckerberg's 40th birthday, Elon Musk is back on their old beef, bringing up that fight he challenged Zuckerberg to last year. "If only Zuckerberg were as tough (sigh). I've offered to fight him any place, any time, any rules, but all I hear is crickets," Musk said in an X post on Wednesday. Musk was responding to a satirical news story about a hypothetical face-off between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump when he mentioned his own proposed battle with Zuckerberg.

One of the most valuable privately-owned coin collections is headed to auction later this year after spending more than a century shrouded in secrecy. The collection once belonged to Danish businessman and butter tycoon Lars Emil Bruun, who spent decades compiling the nearly 20,000 coins, bank notes, and medals that comprise the set. For over a century, the collection has been kept out of the public eye due to a stipulation in Bruun's will that forbade the coins from being sold until a century after his death in 1923 at 71. Emotionally impacted by the devastation of World War I, Bruun determined the collection should be kept as backup reserves for Denmark should a second war ravage Europe. The collection in total is estimated to be worth up to $72 million, making it the most valuable coin collection ever to go to sale. #BTC

Google announced on X on Tuesday that it's testing a new Gemini Al feature that "provides real-time alerts during a call if it detects conversation patterns commonly associated with scams." "This protection all happens on-device so your conversation stays private to you," the company said. The announcement is part of Google's expansion of the Gemini Nano, the company's Al model that was added to the Pixel 9 smartphone. Google says the new feature would alert users for things like a bank representative pressuring you for an urgent payment, or demanding transactions through gift cards.
