According to Odaily, cryptocurrency payment provider Transak has disclosed a security incident involving a ransomware attack that impacted 1.14% of its user base. The company confirmed that no financial or sensitive information was compromised during the breach.

The incident occurred when an attacker gained unauthorized access to an employee's laptop through a sophisticated phishing attack. Using stolen credentials, the attacker accessed the system of a third-party KYC (Know Your Customer) provider responsible for document scanning and verification services. This allowed the attacker to view specific user information stored on the provider's dashboard.

Transak has stated that there is currently no evidence suggesting that the compromised data has been misused. However, the company advises affected users to remain vigilant and monitor for any suspicious activities. To assist those impacted, Transak will offer guidance and resources, including identity monitoring services, to help protect against potential misuse of their information.
