Frequently Asked Questions on SEPA Reference Code

1. What is the bank transfer reference code?

When you make a bank transfer (deposit, withdrawal, or crypto purchase/sale) on Binance, some channels may contain a unique reference code that starts and ends with “B”. This unique reference code identifies your specific Binance account and the transaction amount, ensuring the correct amount is credited to the right account.

Please note that you must include the reference code when making a bank transfer.

2. How to add the reference code to a transaction?

You must include the reference code when initiating a transaction. Typically, you can enter the code under “Reference”, “Message to Receiver”, "Originator to Beneficiary Information (OBI)", "Remittance Information", or similar fields.

In some cases, there may be multiple fields for entering references. Make sure to enter the reference code under the correct field; otherwise, Binance won’t be able to view the code. If you’re unsure which field to use, you may contact your bank for further clarification.

3. What happens if I forgot to include the reference code?

If you made a SEPA transfer without a reference code, your deposit will be refunded to the original bank account. This refund will be processed automatically and may take up to 7 business days to complete. If possible, we recommend canceling the deposit from the bank to avoid any potential issues.

4. What happens if I put in the wrong reference code?

4.1 If you have made a deposit from your account before:

If you entered the reference code incorrectly, we can track your previous bank transfers and automatically credit your account within 1 to 3 business days. You won't need to contact customer service.

4.2 If it’s the first time you make a deposit from your account:

Your deposit will be automatically refunded to the original bank account within 7 business days. If you don't receive the refund after this period, you can submit an appeal, and we will update you via email.

To avoid delays or issues with future deposits, we recommend including the reference code provided on the deposit page in all your future transactions.
