They Steal Money by Promising Airdrops: Watch Out for This Practice

The Open Network (TON), the blockchain project associated with Telegram, is experiencing a lot of attacks.

Security experts in the blockchain industry said that there are too many attacks in the The Open Network (TON) ecosystem.

Attacks are increasing

Yu Xian, founder of Blockchain security firm SlowMist, said that there are intense phishing attacks in the TON ecosystem.

Attackers are targeting decentralized application (dApp) and token users in the TON ecosystem.

“There is more and more phishing activity happening in the TON ecosystem,” said the SlowMist founder. TON-based projects have recently gained popularity. These projects include names such as Notcoin (NOT). Many of these give users rewards as they click.

They communicate easily

According to the founder of SlowMist, users in the TON ecosystem can be easily contacted. To do this, fraudsters use channels on Telegram, one of the world's most popular messaging applications.

Yu Xian said that scammers use airdrop campaigns to deceive people.

Scammers specifically target users who have opened an account on Telegram without a SIM card. The anonymous number feature in Telegram came into use towards the end of 2022. In this way, people can use Telegram without a SIM card. Blockchain-based numbers are used for this.
