According to ChainCatcher, Hong Kong SAR Legislative Council member Wu Jiezhuang said that in order to promote the development of Web3 and virtual assets in Hong Kong, the Legislative Council earlier established a subcommittee on Web3 and virtual asset development. Opinions are now being sought from the global industry to propose policy recommendations and thematic discussions on the future direction of industry development. The proposal will be studied in detail and summarized, and submitted to the government through the Legislative Council platform. The global industry can provide opinions on the following topics to promote Hong Kong to become a global Web3 center:

Web3 policy:

  • How to balance and promote Web3’s underlying technology, legal and regulatory frameworks;

  • How to work with the country to promote Hong Kong to become an internationally connected Web3 center;

  • The integration and development of artificial intelligence and Web3 technologies will improve the regulatory system for artificial intelligence;

  • Policies and regulations for decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs)

  • Support and regulate the healthy development of DAOs in Hong Kong;

  • How to cultivate and attract innovative talents in Web3 technology and finance;

Virtual assets:

  • Recommend measures that are conducive to the development of the virtual asset industry;

  • How to strengthen protection for virtual asset investors and consumers and enhance market confidence;

  • The potential application scenarios and risks of stablecoins in Hong Kong, and recommendations for a regulatory system that ensures financial stability without hindering innovation;

  • Explore the demand for professional custody services brought about by the rise of virtual assets in Hong Kong, and study the corresponding custody methods and regulatory measures.
