Apple is reportedly delaying the release of its AI upgrade, Apple Intelligence, iPhone Mirroring, and SharePlay Screen Sharing in the EU due to concerns over the Digital Markets Act (DMA) regulations. The tech giant fears that the DMA's interoperability requirements could compromise user privacy and data security. Apple, along with Alphabet, Amazon, ByteDance, Meta, and Microsoft, is considered a "gatekeeper" by the EU, meaning it holds a powerful market position and is subject to DMA rules. Violations could lead to hefty penalties, up to 10% of the company's total worldwide annual turnover.
