PANews June 20 news, according to Cointelegraph, former pharmaceutical company executive Martin Shkreli claimed on the X Spaces show on Wednesday that Donald Trump's 18-year-old son Barron Trump launched TrumpCoin (DJT) with his father's approval and holds the private key to its smart contract address. Shkreli, who served more than six years for securities fraud, claimed that Barron approached him in April this year and asked him to help launch a Solana-based token, which is now worth $146 million.
Barron Trump and his representatives have not yet made a statement on the matter. Shkreli claimed that he only provided advice on the token issuance, and the actual deployment was done by Barron. He further alleged that cryptocurrency influencer "Ansem" was also involved in the project. Shkreli posted on the X platform: "I taught someone how to make a connection, they pressed the button, not me. The key is with Trump." He hinted that a total of 10 people were involved in the token issuance.
Shkreli also claimed that Barron approached the Kraken exchange to discuss listing the DJT token. He insisted that Trump not only knew about the DJT token, but also "approved it." In addition, Shkreli introduced a "Mongolian prince" as a witness, who confirmed that Barron was the true creator of the token in X Spaces.
However, Adam Cochran, a partner at venture capital firm Cinneamhain Ventures, accused Shkreli of trying to shift the blame to Barron to clear himself. The audience had mixed reactions to Shkreli's claims, with some saying it was tenable and others saying Barron would not create an election year controversy for his father. Shkreli was convicted of securities fraud in 2017 and served nearly seven years in prison and paid a hefty fine. Despite concerns that his recent actions may violate parole conditions, Shkreli denied the allegations.
