Martin Shkreli, also known as "Pharma Bro," claims that Donald Trump's 18-year-old son, Barron Trump, launched the TrumpCoin (DJT) token with his father's approval and has the private keys to the smart contract address.

Shkreli claims that Barron Trump approached him in April to launch the Solana-based token, which is now worth $146 million, according to Birdseye data.

Shkreli claimed in an X Spaces that he merely advised his "friend" Barron Trump about the token launch, but had no active role in distributing the token itself.

He also claimed that Barron Trump was in communication with crypto exchange Kraken to potentially list DJT. Cointelegraph reached out to Kraken but did not immediately receive a response outside regular business hours.

Shkreli claimed that Donald Trump was not only aware of, but also "approved" of the DJT token.

Those who dispute Shkreli's claims argue that Barron Trump would not be foolish enough to risk creating controversy for his father in an election year.

Shkreli was convicted in federal court in 2017 of two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy. He spent almost seven years in prison and ultimately paid over $70 million in fines.

Some have suggested that Shkreli's recent activity may violate the terms of his parole, but Shkreli has denied this.
