According to ChainCatcher, Base developer @wbnns posted on X that the Base team will increase the Gas target for each block from 7.5 Mgas/second to 8.125 Mgas/second to make Base as fast, cheap, and easy to use as possible for users around the world.

For most users, no changes are required, but if you run a Base node and notice that it lags behind in performance as network activity increases, you need to:

1. Monitor CPU and disk I/O usage;

2. Enhance disk throughput and use disks with lower read/write latency (NVMe SSD is recommended);

3. Improve the CPU, focusing on single-core speed.
