Odaily Planet Daily reported that U.S. Department of Justice officials have drafted a motion opposing Ethereum developer Virgil Griffith's application for sentence reduction for violating sanctions against North Korea. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a document submitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on June 17 that the judge should reject Virgil Griffith's motion to reduce his sentence to 51 months. It is reported that the judge previously sentenced the former Ethereum developer to 63 months in prison and a fine of $100,000 in April 2022. Considering his time in prison before the sentencing hearing, he is expected to be released from prison in January 2026. (Cointelegraph)
