[After misjudging the “Family Guy” meme, Binance needs a “new intern”]

Binance recently faced criticism for tweeting a racially themed Family Guy meme. The meme shows Peter Griffin being stopped by a toll booth agent while driving into the United States, and deciding whether to let him through based on the lightness of his skin.

Binance edited the meme to show a "light-skinned" Binance user and a "dark-skinned" user using two-factor authentication (2FA), with the caption reading: "You are protected, please move on." .

However, the post was deleted shortly after being posted. One user called this "Binance's 9/11," while others were confused by the news, with one saying "I have no idea what their intentions were."

Hours later, Binance issued an apology for the post, saying the meme was "meant to highlight Binance's commitment to user safety and strict security measures" and blaming an intern.

"We clearly need a new intern who has the following qualities: a passion for the crypto community, a strong talent for social media, and an understanding of global cultural taboos," the statement read.

Binance co-founder He Yi said that the intern thought this was a chart of Binance users covering all skin colors and recommended that everyone turn on two-factor authentication. He also said that this meme "is talking about people's current pursuit of healthy sun exposure." black."

He Yi mentioned: "The social media team has only recently joined and lacks the corresponding cultural background. When they saw this meme image in the community, they did not understand its meaning and posted it. Our mistake, we will make sure to correct this question."

Binance’s apology eventually turned into a recruitment drive, with Binance asking users to share their best work in the comments so that its team could screen potential new candidates.
