At the BTC Prague conference, the manufacturer of hardware crypto wallets Trezor presented a new model - Trezor Safe 5. In addition, a separate version for storing bitcoins and the Trezor Suite application were presented.

Trezor Safe 5 supports thousands of cryptocurrencies. It has a larger color touchscreen and an improved recovery mechanism with a 20-word seed phrase.

The Trezor Suite app for desktop and mobile phones allows users to manage their assets on the device, including staking.

Trezor Safe 5 has an EAL 6+ security certificate, which confirms that the chip has undergone rigorous testing and can withstand sophisticated attacks.

The backup is created using Shamir's secret sharing scheme. This allows the private key to be divided into several parts, the number of which the user can set independently. The owner also decides how many parts of the secret key are needed to restore access to the wallet.

The new device is also compatible with the Trezor Keep Metal device, which is designed to store a secret key and protect it from external physical influences.

The standard Trezor Safe 5 costs $169. The Bitcoin-only and Black Graphite versions are available for pre-order now and will ship in July. Green Beryl and Violet Ore colors will be available by mid-August.

The company introduced its previous device, Trezor Safe 3, in October last year. This was the first release of the new Trezor crypto wallet after a five-year hiatus. The model is aimed at newcomers to the crypto space.

The company also offers a Trezor Expert service to help set up hardware wallets and manage private keys.
