Explore the BNB Chain ecosystem with Arno Bauer, senior solutions architect at BNB Chain, in episode 25 of Cointelegraph's Hashing It Out podcast.
Bauer explains his reasons for creating BNB Chain and how the project aims to contribute to the Web3 ecosystem. Addressing competition in the space, Bauer notes that BNB Chain is not designed to “kill Ethereum,” but aims to provide value for a unique user base.
“I wouldn't call ourselves Ethereum killers because no one wants to kill Ethereum.“
Recently, BNB Chain launched opBNB, a new layer-2 testnet based on Optimism OP Stack. When asked if this could lead to fragmentation of the BNB Chain ecosystem, Bauer explains that users may be confused when making a choice and that the best way to simplify the user experience is for wallet providers and infrastructure developers to create a seamless integration that does not require users to deal with technical details.
Bauer also discussed the potential for crushing with multiple blockchain layer-1 and layer-2 options for users to choose from. He explained that it is okay to have multiple options in the future and that diverse networks are needed to deliver on the promise of providing greater scalability to increase Web3 adoption.
