Buterin's interlocutor under the nickname 0xDesigner wondered why meme coins retain the dominant narrative in the current rapidly developing market
“Each cycle expanded the functionality and scope of cryptocurrencies: decentralized and tamper-proof assets, P2P and cross-border payments, programmable money, financial services without restrictions,” he wrote.
However, 0xDesigner did not find any benefit in meme coins and was disappointed in their future potential, since all the design concepts for such coins turn out to be “forced” and without real benefit.
Previously, Buterin criticized celebrity experiments with meme coins. He called for a focus on projects with a focus on public benefits rather than enriching insiders.
