According to TechFlow, a few weeks ago, a user lost $245,000 due to accidentally downloading malware. The incident started with an account impersonating a16z partner Peter Lauten, asking about podcast cooperation.

The attacker took advantage of Peter Lauten's change of username to X (Twitter) and registered his old username. The victim was tricked into installing a fake conference app called "Vortax", which was actually malware. Soon after the download, the victim's crypto assets were transferred.
