Wu said that according to CryptoSlate, Rob Marrocco, vice president and global head of ETF listings at Cboe, believes that crypto ETFs other than Bitcoin and Ethereum are unlikely to appear until the market and regulatory environment change. Marrocco said in the ETF Store podcast on June 11 that the market's expectations for Solana (SOL) and XRP spot ETFs are unrealistic in the short term because these cryptocurrencies do not have futures markets, which is the main factor for the approval of spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. The only feasible way to bring the Solana ETF to market is to first go through the Solana futures ETF, but even if the Solana futures ETF is launched, they will need to trade for quite some time to establish a track record. Marrocco believes that a more expedient approach is to establish a comprehensive cryptocurrency regulatory framework that will define what constitutes securities and commodities, allowing the SEC to take appropriate action.
