Pudgy Penguins mobile game coming in 2025
Pudgy Penguins will launch its new mobile game in 2025 on Mythos Chain, a gaming blockchain developed by web3 network Polkadot, which will expand the Pudgy Penguins universe to mobile devices and allow players to own in-game digital items, providing new ways to interact with beloved characters.
The project is in partnership with web3 gaming studio Mythical Games, which reportedly believes the timing is right to launch Pudgy Penguins given the company’s recent success with Blankos Block Party and NFL Rivals, both of which currently have over 5 million players.
Nifty Media acquires web3 media brand NFT Insider
Nifty Media, the leading NFT news company behind NFT Plazas and other popular sites, has acquired NFT Insider, a media platform originally founded in 2021 to cover the gaming-focused WAX blockchain.
To mark the acquisition, Nifty Media relaunched the NFT Insider website and announced the deal on social media, a move that could lead to more comprehensive coverage and deeper insights for NFT collectors thanks to Nifty Media’s expanding portfolio.
Maison Margiela parent company OTB will adopt on-chain authentication
OTB Group, the parent company of luxury brands such as Maison Margiela and Jil Sander, is launching on-chain authentication for its products. Starting this year, customers can use blockchain and near-field communication (NFC) chips embedded in clothing or items to verify the authenticity of their high-end purchases.
As a member of the Aura Consortium, OTB has reportedly registered around 1.2 million products on the organization’s Ethereum-compatible blockchain, a move aimed at combating counterfeit goods and ensuring greater transparency so buyers can have confidence in the authenticity of their luxury goods.
DeLorean makes car reservations transferable on-chain
DeLorean, the 1980s sports car maker that shook up the automotive market by making its vehicle registrations transferable on-chain, has partnered with crypto payments firm MoonPay to let customers transfer their car reservations in the form of NFTs.
The web3 marketplace is scheduled to launch later in 2024, and car enthusiasts and buyers will soon be able to exchange their reservations on the new digital platform.
Polygon acquires ZK proof company Toposware
Leading Ethereum scaler Polygon has acquired zero-knowledge (ZK) proof solution builder Toposware.
In a blog post, Polygon said the Toposware team is integrating with the existing Polygon ZK development team to further drive innovation across all technical aspects, including AggLayer, Polygon CDK, and Polygon zkEVM.
Christie’s auction Beyond The Screen
On May 31, Christie’s opened Beyond The Screen, an NFT auction featuring 20 lots and works of various genres, and in addition to a rare CryptoPunk work, the sale also included two Bitcoin Ordinals artworks.
First up, there’s Rutherford Chang’s Ordinals project “CENTS,” a work made from 10,000 U.S. pennies smelted and cast into a 68-pound copper block, which was then immortalized on the Bitcoin blockchain as a 3D rendering and inscribed as Ordinals.
Meanwhile, Asprey Studio’s “Silver Scream” opened bidding for $10,000 for a silver sculpture of Edvard Munch’s famous 1895 masterpiece “The Scream” and the corresponding Bitcoin Ordinals inscribed on May 21.
