Six months ago, Orbit Chain suffered a catastrophic attack, and hackers stole $81.5M worth of assets at the time, including stablecoins, WBTC, and ETH. The incident was hailed as a high-profile example of cybercrime, demonstrating the cunning and resourcefulness of hackers.

Rather than immediately laundering all assets, the hackers chose a more subtle path. They converted some stablecoins and WBTC into 17,250 ETH at an average price of $2,301, and stored a total of 26,750 ETH and 20 million DAI in 8 different wallets until the last hour.

What’s even more amazing is that since the hackers chose to convert most of the stolen assets into ETH, the value of ETH has increased significantly from the year to date. The 26,750 ETH they held has increased in value by $37.45M. The move could perhaps be seen as a highly successful 'investment', if its illegal nature were not taken into account.

The hacker laundered the ETH through Tornado cash. Address: 0x84Bfa13778954ED29Db486fD2ef9acC7bA24773F Orbit Chain.
