Odaily Planet Daily News: According to a survey of 2,012 people by the German central bank, Deutsche Bundesbank, 50% of respondents said that if the digital euro was an additional payment method, they would "definitely" or "probably" consider using it. Three-fifths of German respondents said they had "never heard of, read or seen" anything about the digital euro. Among those who answered that they had heard of the digital euro, 16% thought it was a cryptocurrency. Only 17% of respondents correctly answered that it was a central bank digital currency (CBDC). The president of the German central bank stressed the need to better educate people about this digital currency and said that "a lot of information still needs to be provided." At the same time, the European Central Bank (ECB) announced that the digital euro can be used offline, and the transaction details "are only known to the payer and the payee"; it is currently in the preparation stage and is expected to be completed in October 2025, with a focus on determining the rules and finding possible issuers.
