English football club Watford FC , which boasts Sir Elton John as Honorary Chairman, is selling around 10% of the business to investors, including fans, with the option of receiving tokens .
The digital share sale is being backed by crowdfunding firm Republic and its European subsidiary Seedrs, with the club – valued at £175m ($224m) – aiming to raise funding of up to £17.5 million ($22.4 million).Watford FC is based in London and has spent more than half of the last 10 seasons in the Premier League . Currently playing in the lower division, the club aims to use the capital raised to improve performance.
