#PCE物价指数

Here's an interesting phenomenon that's often observed in the market. Everybody is waiting for a particular set of data, for instance, take today's PCE index that's expected to be released at 20:30. Retail investors generally stay inactive before this index is released. However, a few hours before this data is published, the major investors (often referred to as 'whales') who had previously accumulated their stocks will introduce a minor upward price adjustment. You can think of this as a safety cushion. If the data turns out to be bearish, it won't impact the wholes' cost price. On the other hand, if the data is bullish, retail investors won't be able to purchase at the whales' accumulation price, which in fact drives the price even higher. In this way, before the data starts coming in, one can determine which stocks have a whale's protection.
