DMM wallet suffered illegal outflow

At around 13:26 on May 31, 2024 (Friday), it was confirmed that a large amount of Bitcoin (BTC) was illegally outflowed from the DMM wallet. A detailed investigation into the damage is still ongoing.

Details of outgoing Bitcoins

The number of illegally outflowed Bitcoins was 4,502.9 BTC, equivalent to approximately 48.2 billion yen. Regarding this huge outflow, DMM stated that it has taken countermeasures and decided to restrict the use of some services in order to further ensure safety.

Customer Asset Protection: DMM will fully reimburse

DMM claims to guarantee that customers’ deposits of Bitcoin (BTC) will be fully protected. A considerable part of the outflow of Bitcoin will be allocated and fully compensated through the support of the group company.

Restricted service

Due to this incident, the following services will be temporarily restricted.

– Review of new account opening – Withdrawal processing of crypto assets – Suspension of buy orders for spot trading (only sells are accepted) – Suspension of new position orders for leveraged trading (only settlement orders are accepted)

Additionally, placed limit orders for spot trading and leveraged trading will not be cancelled. Withdrawals in Japanese yen may take longer than usual. The time for service restoration will be notified separately.
