PANews reported on May 29 that according to DL News, the wife of Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive imprisoned in Nigeria, and a person familiar with the matter said that the Nigerian Correctional Service, which is responsible for managing the Nigerian prison system, ignored the court order and refused to send Gambaryan, who suffered from malaria and severe throat infection, to the hospital for treatment. Instead, he was being treated in a clinic in Kuje Prison, which was short of supplies and urgently needed renovation.

Gambaryan's wife, Yuki Gambaryan, is concerned that her husband's physical and mental health is deteriorating. "I am extremely shocked and frustrated that the authorities are not allowing him to leave the prison where he became ill, despite clear court instructions to hospitalize him," said Yuki. Gambaryan collapsed in court on Thursday during the second day of his trial on money laundering charges in the Nigerian capital Abuja.
