Giant Bitcoin Miner Reached Agreement with African Country

Marathon Digital, one of the world's largest Bitcoin miners, started working with the Kenyan Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.

Marathon Digital will develop Bitcoin-based renewable energy projects in Kenya in line with its agreement with the ministry. The parties will establish a joint committee to carry out these studies.

“This agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum is a milestone for our business because it provides us with a clear framework to pursue opportunities in Kenya,” said Marathon Digital CEO Fred Thiel.

The company made a statement a few weeks ago and announced that it produced 2 thousand 811 Bitcoins in the first quarter of 2024. Thanks to the Bitcoin price breaking a record at that time, the company announced a profit of $337.2 million.
