The decentralized social graph protocol Lens Protocol announced on Wednesday (15th) that it will use zkSync’s modular open source framework ZK Stack to develop its social network called “Lens Network”, which will support large-scale adoption. A decentralized social space capable of handling synchronized, instant transactions while ensuring data integrity.

Lens stated in an article that the Lens Network will initially be launched with an EVM-compatible Validium chain secured by Ethereum, and will be converted to a Volition network built with ZK Stack during a three-stage launch process to enhance Transaction security and user control. Validium and Volition are blockchain scaling solutions that utilize zero-knowledge proofs, but the two solutions have different security assumptions.

Lens and the lending protocol Aave are both developed by Avara, the company’s founder Stani Kulechov said:

"Lens Network has created a hybrid architecture that combines Validium and Volition with the ZK Stack on Ethereum, which will not only improve scalability but also make the network more open and fair."

Lens Protocol is a social graph that can be used to build decentralized social media, where NFTs that serve as user profiles enable users to interact with decentralized applications in its ecosystem. Lens Protocol currently uses the Polygon POS chain to settle transactions and has previously developed a scaling solution called Momoka.

Lens stated that the new version of the Lens Protocol will be developed and launched on the Lens Network. It will not only become a shared social network, but will also operate as a cross-chain protocol, hosting its main center on the Lens Network through zkSync. Instances of the new Lens Protocol can also be deployed on other EVM networks (and non-EVM networks).
