Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter, that BlockTower Capital's main hedge fund was hacked and some of its funds were emptied. The whereabouts of the stolen funds are still unknown and the hackers have not been caught, but the company has hired an area analyst. Blockchain forensic analysts came to determine how the funds were stolen and recently notified its limited partners (LPs) of the theft. BlockTower declined to comment when contacted by Bloomberg about the hack.

Founded in 2017 and based in Miami and New York, BlockTower has invested in companies including Dapper Labs, gaming studio Sky Mavis and Terraform Labs. The exact amount affected is unclear, but the company has about $1.7 billion in assets under management, according to data provider PitchBook.
