Mode, a Layer 2 network developed on OP Stack, will let users claim token airdrop at 18:00 today.
In this initial phase, Mode will distribute 550 million Mode tokens – accounting for 5.5% of the total supply of 10 billion tokens.
The distribution is designed based on the number of Mode points held by users, which were initially allocated during the “Mode Sunrise” event from January – based on users' previous activities across multiple DeFi applications, NFT and other Layer 2 networks.
Immediately after claiming, Mode tokens will be listed on many large centralized exchanges such as OKX, Bybit, Kucoin... The Bybit Launchpool platform also starts allowing users to farm Mode from today with 3 pairs: Mode, MNT and USDT.
After the first phase, Mode plans to continue the token distribution with a second phase lasting from May 5 to September 6, in which an additional 500 million tokens will be distributed.
The team has released other details regarding its token. Of the 10 billion total token supply, core investors and contributors will receive 38% of the total Mode tokens. The platform treasury will hold 27%, while the remaining 35% of the supply is reserved for airdrops to the community and developers.
Since launching in January, Mode has quickly gained traction, achieving a total locked value of around $500 million as well as over 400,000 user wallets – primarily from airdrop hunters.
The project first attracted attention in January after receiving a significant donation of 2 million OP tokens ($5.4 million) from the Optimism Foundation to support its development.
Mode is developed using OP Stack and is part of the Optimism Superchain ecosystem, along with other ecosystems such as OP Mainnet, Base, Zora, Aevo and Fraxtal.
Mode will donate a portion of its sequencer revenue to Optimism Collective. Furthermore, it has agreed to adopt “chain law,” an open neutral framework that governs the Superchain network.
