Since everyone is so concerned about what happened in past Bitcoin halving and many are predicting the price based on previous halving so lets have a look at what actually happened in the last 3 BTC halving.

1st Bitcoin halving date — November 28, 2012 — Reward down: 50 BTC to 25 BTC

The first bitcoin halving was held on November 28 and in OCT bitcoin witnessed a 25% drop pre halving which was recovered just before the halving and then we saw $BTC continue to move up post halving.

- 2nd Bitcoin halving date — July 9, 2016 — Reward down:  25 BTC to 12.5 BTC

The second bitcoin halving was held on july 9, 2016

There were actually two drops, One just before the halving BTC witnessed an almost 30% drop and then bitcoin consolidated at the same price for a few days and later on BTC witnessed a 27% post halving drop which was recovered later on.

So in 2016 halving we had both pre and post halving dumps.

- 3rd Bitcoin halving date — May 11, 2020 — Reward down:  12.5 BTC to 6.25 BTC

In May 2020 halving bitcoin witnessed a whooping 63% drop before the halving. This drop was much sharper than previous halving's because of the uncertainty of Covid19. The drop was fully recovered just before the halving and then price consolidated for 2 months after halving and then it keeps moving up.

4th Bitcoin (Current) halving date — April 19, 2024 — Reward down: 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC

it's now the 4th BTC halving and bitcoin made a drop of 17% before the halving which is much smaller than the previous halving.

Many traders are now betting on a post halving drop. In previous 3 halving we saw btc dumped before the halving and in 2016 we have a post halving dump as well. So if we just focus on what happened in the previous halving yes there is an history of post halving dump as well.

But we should not be fully dependent on the history just like 2020 halving was different, The whole world was going through Corona virus. 2024 halving is somehow different too in term of

- We now have Btc SPOT ETF

- On goin FED talk to cut the interest rates

- Uncertainity of WAR

My Opinion

Historically In all of the previous halving one thing is common and that's Bitcoin recovered every dump.

So it does not matter if you get a Pre halving or Post halving dip. Any deep dip is an opportunity for you to accumulate Crypto for a move up.

I hope you found this information useful, I would love to hear your opinions as well.
