Sony Introduces Cutting-Edge Digital Signature Technology for Smartphones. 📸🤳🏼
Sony is developing a unique digital signature technology to combat fake photos and videos. This technology, initially designed for DSLR cameras as C2PA, is making its way to next-gen smartphones.
The digital signature feature is expected to debut on Sony Xperia 1 VI and 5 VI models. Developed in collaboration with Associated Press (AP) and Camera Bits, this technology aims to add significant metadata to images, including when the photo was taken and if any edits were made.
The exact functionality of the feature has not been fully disclosed yet. Sony continues its tradition of innovation, following recent announcements like the completion of the digital signature technology for DSLR cameras.
The technology will first be implemented in Alpha 9 III, Alpha 1, and Alpha 7S III cameras before being integrated into Xperia smartphones. This advancement is not unique to Sony, as Leica introduced a similar feature for its M11-P model.
The digital signature technology could serve as a tool to verify the authenticity of photos and prevent manipulation.
