Summary of FED decisions March 2024
1. The Fed kept interest rates unchanged from 5.25% - 5.5%, the 5th consecutive time the FED kept interest rates unchanged since the September meeting
2. The Fed still maintains expectations of three interest rate cuts by 2024
3. Core PCE inflation forecast in 2024 increased to 2.6%, compared to 2.4% at the end of 2023 meeting - the FED has become more hawkish on inflation
4. Fed says inflation “has cooled but remains high”
5. Fed does not expect to cut interest rates until inflation is at 2%
6. The Fed currently expects only two interest rate cuts in 2025, and fewer cuts in 2026
