Thailand allows private equity funds to invest in U.S. Bitcoin spot ETF
According to Shenzhen TechFlow, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand has modified its rules to allow the launch of private equity funds investing in U.S. Bitcoin spot ETFs. According to a report by the Bangkok Post on March 12, only institutional investors and “ultra-high net worth individuals” can invest in these private Bitcoin ETF funds.
Previously, regulations governing investments by asset managers did not cover digital asset ETFs, and under the SEC Act, asset managers were only allowed to offer trading in assets classified as securities. However, after U.S. securities regulators approved a spot Bitcoin ETF in January, the shares of the spot Bitcoin ETF were defined as securities rather than cryptoassets under Thai regulations.
