Zilliqa (ZIL) is a permissionless public blockchain designed to provide high throughput and secure execution of smart contracts. Launched in 2017, it was the first blockchain to implement sharding technology, which allows new blocks to be confirmed in parallel, significantly increasing the number of transactions the network can process per second. Zilliqa's native cryptocurrency, also called ZIL, is used to pay for transactions and as gas for executing smart contracts. The main goal of the project is to provide new solutions to the problem of scalability of existing blockchains, thereby enabling the effective use of blockchain technology in sectors.
