According to ChainCatcher, crypto wallet MetaMask tweeted that the conclusion posted by Twitter user @tayvano_ that the large-scale wallet theft was caused by a MetaMask vulnerability is incorrect. The theft of more than 5,000 ETH from 11 on-chain addresses was not specifically caused by a MetaMask vulnerability. The claim that the MetaMask wallet was hacked is incorrect, and it is working with practitioners in the Web3 wallet field to study the source of this vulnerability.
Earlier news, MetaMask security team member @tayvano_ warned on Twitter that a large number of wallet user private keys may have been leaked between 2014 and 2022, which may have led to the theft of 5,000+ ETH. (Source link)
