A study recently released by Money Mongers shows that the crypto industry has been stepping up its lobbying efforts during the crypto winter that began last year. In 2022, market participants spent $25.57 million on lobbying in the United States. Among them, Coinbase spent $3.39 million, becoming the institution with the highest cryptocurrency lobbying expenditures, followed by the Blockchain Association with $1.9 million and Robinhood with $1.84 million. Ripple spent $1.08 million, Binance.us spent $960,000, and FTX.us spent $720,000. Nearly half of the total lobbying expenditures of cryptocurrency companies came from 2022 itself (total lobbying expenditures in the past 6 years were $50.75 million, of which $25.57 million occurred in 2022).
