According to PANews, OP Labs protocol engineer Mofi has introduced a proposal for the Granite Network Upgrade. This upgrade aims to address security vulnerabilities identified by Spearbit, Cantina, and Code4rena during a series of third-party security audits. The vulnerabilities have not been exploited, and user assets have remained secure. The proposal outlines a series of smart contract upgrades to fix the identified issues and an L2 hard fork to enhance the stability and performance of the fault-tolerant system. As a precaution, a permissioned rollback mechanism has been initiated to prevent any potential instability during the patching process.

If approved, the Granite Network Upgrade is scheduled to take place on September 10 at 16:00 UTC. The upgrade has been coordinated with Base and Conduit to be implemented on internal development networks and the Sepolia Superchain.
