According to Odaily Planet Daily, a recent report released by blockchain intelligence company TRM Labs shows that hackers stole more than twice as much cryptocurrency (in terms of the dollar value of the currency) in the first half of 2024 as in the first half of 2023. As of June 24 this year, the total amount of cryptocurrency theft reached $1.38 billion, while the amount stolen in the same period of 2023 was $657 million. The five largest hacking incidents so far this year accounted for 70% of the total amount stolen. Among them, more than 4,500 bitcoins worth more than $300 million were stolen from the Japanese exchange DMM Bitcoin in May, possibly due to the theft of private keys or address poisoning.
