Japanese multi-industry giant Sony plans to launch a cryptocurrency trading platform subsidiary by revamping WhaleFin, a local trading platform it acquired last year, according to Foresight News. WhaleFin has been renamed S.BLOX Co. and plans to collaborate with other Sony Group businesses to enhance its cryptocurrency trading services.

The revamp includes a redesigned user interface and a new mobile app, designed to provide a more user-friendly experience. However, the exact launch date of the S.BLOX crypto trading platform has not yet been announced. The crypto trading entity was originally a Japanese cryptocurrency trading platform DeCurret, which was acquired by the Japanese subsidiary of Singapore's Amber Group in 2022. In August 2023, Sony's wholly-owned subsidiary Quetta Web Co. acquired the platform.
