According to Odaily Planet Daily, Geoffrey Hinton, an expert known as the "godfather of artificial intelligence", recently consulted with members of the British government and suggested that legislators consider adopting a universal basic income (UBI) to deal with the impending threat of unemployment. Hinton believes that the artificial intelligence revolution will mainly benefit the rich, while laymen, blue-collar workers and people who work in jobs that can be replaced by automation may lose their source of income. He said in an interview with the BBC, "This will be bad for society." Hinton predicts that in the next 5 to 20 years, there is a 50% chance that we will have to face the problem of artificial intelligence trying to take over.
