Phishing attacks in the Web3 space surged in 2024, resulting in a staggering $494 million in losses, up 67% from the previous year, according to a report by Scam Sniffer. Wallet-draining malware has evolved significantly, making decentralized systems more vulnerable. While the number of victims increased by only 3.7%, the financial damages per attack rose sharply. A single incident resulted in a loss of $55.48 million.
Ethereum price prediction was the most impacted, as the network lost $152 million across 25 major incidents. Other blockchains, including Arbitrum, Base, Blast, and BNB Chain, also faced attacks, although none on the scale of Ethereum. Despite these challenges, Ethereum price prediction remained strong.
In other ETH news, on January 3, spot Ethereum ETFs in the US saw a net inflow of $58.79 million, a major turnaround from the $77.51 million outflow the previous day. Other ETH news shows that BlackRock ETHA led the way with $33.88 million, followed by Fidelity FETH and Grayscale ETH.
The latest news shows that ETH price remains firm at $3,500 and is approaching a breakout. Surpassing the $4,000 mark could push the ETH price above $5,000 or $7,500. However, if ETH price fails to break out, a pullback to $3,000 or $2,700 is possible, with consolidation likely in the near term.
