Ripple launched the stablecoin RLUSD on December 17, 2024, quickly attracting attention. Since its trial in June 2024, RLUSD has processed 33,953 transactions on the XRP Ledger and 1,690 on Ethereum, indicating a preference for the XRP Ledger.
Transaction volume is expected to continue to rise sharply, potentially even accelerating. RLUSD is designed to be compliant with regulations, fitting within the current context. At the end of 2024, the EU's MiCA regulations will take effect, resulting in Tether being removed in Europe. This creates opportunities for MiCA-compliant stablecoins like Ripple's RLUSD.
