A recent survey interviewed 42 Solana founders and got candid answers on a wide range of crypto-related topics. The responses showed a strong preference for Solana’s meme coins and a belief that the blockchain’s payment capabilities are underappreciated.

These same responses showed a strong hatred for Pump.fun and indifference to the existence of the Solana Cabal.

Solana Founders Speak

Journalist Jack Kobinek conducted this survey, and was able to obtain responses from 42 Solana founders. Solana is a major force in the blockchain ecosystem, and these figures have strong opinions on a number of topics. However, the identities of these founders remain a mystery, so the survey cannot necessarily predict Solana’s trajectory.

“I conducted an anonymous survey of 42 Solana founders to get their unfiltered opinions on other chains, VCs, startups, cabal, and more,” Kobink claimed. “The responses were overwhelming!”

These founders largely agreed on one question in the survey: If you had to work on a blockchain other than Solana, which would you choose? More than half of them chose either Base, which recently surpassed Ethereum in user growth, or SUI, with its similar growth and exciting technical development. This was one of the most unanimous responses.

Another strong consensus point in the survey was Solana’s meme coins, with 32 founders describing them as “mostly good for Solana.” Contrast this with the so-called “Solana Cabal,” which had roughly equal responses in every category. In any case, only one founder claimed they were a significant concern.

For crypto venture capital, the founders believed that Multichain was the best by a wide margin, while Binance Labs was the worst by a narrow margin. They also claimed that sandwich attacks were the most pressing concern for the Solana ecosystem, but only by a narrow margin. They also said that even after two years, FTX’s legacy connections remain the biggest threat to its reputation.

The study also surveyed these founders about which Solana startup they would most and least like to join. Geto had the highest level of support, while a large majority were not enthusiastic about working with Pump.fun.

They also claimed that AI agents are overrated and that Solana’s use in payments is underappreciated. This was a somewhat surprising finding, as AI agents were among the top crypto trends for 2024.

The data from this survey is completely anonymous, so it’s impossible to tie these developers’ positions to Solana’s future trajectory. However, it still provides important insights into how they view the cryptocurrency industry as a whole.
