Vitalik Buterin Slams Elon Musk for Censorship on X
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has criticized Elon Musk for the way he manages the discussion on the X platform (formerly Twitter). In his statement, Buterin called on Musk to lower the “temperature” of communication and stop using the “banhammer” to censor users.
In a December post on X, Vitalik Buterin expressed admiration for Musk’s willingness to fight for free speech, but called on him to moderate his tone and reduce the number of account bans. Buterin noted that it is more difficult to respect free speech when it comes to unpopular opinions.
Vitalik’s criticism comes amid Musk’s controversial statements about hiring foreign tech workers in the United States. In his post, Musk defended the right of companies to hire immigrants on H-1B visas, sparking a backlash among some Donald Trump supporters on the X site. Conservatives accused Musk of censorship, saying his platform was removing premium features from accounts that criticized his stance on H-1B visas.
