【WeChat Mini Store Fully Opens Gift Sending Feature Before Spring Festival, Whitelisted Users Reach 300 Million】 Jinshi Data reported on December 24 that WeChat has recently begun a gray test of the gift sending feature, marking a key move for Tencent's return to the e-commerce market. This feature has led to a surge in the stock prices of WeChat's S-level service providers, Weimeng and Youzan, which rose over 31% and 10% respectively today. According to a leaked document titled 'WeChat E-commerce Communication Meeting Minutes December 20, 2024', WeChat plans to fully open the gift sending feature for WeChat Mini Stores before the Spring Festival. Users can use this feature by updating to the new version of WeChat and reopening the app after clearing the cache. This feature has been in gray testing for some time, and large-scale external opening has been less than a week. The number of whitelisted users has exceeded 300 million, reaching over 40 million cumulative users, with nearly 2 million users placing orders through this feature on December 19 alone. Currently, the cumulative GMV is less than 400 million (as of December 20 data). The document also revealed that WeChat's current e-commerce assessment metrics include the average daily number of gift sending users, average daily order volume, and average daily GMV. This year, WeChat's total e-commerce scale (including video accounts, mini programs, etc.) is expected to reach 40 trillion to 50 trillion. Before June 18 next year, Zhang Xiaolong and Tencent Group will observe whether the social e-commerce ecosystem can take off and whether GMV can explode, but there is currently no full confidence that indicators such as merchant onboarding and purchasing users can meet the group’s expectations. The document also shows that WeChat's video account e-commerce has implemented a mixed big model, which is applied in recommending search product cards, recognizing, understanding, and predicting user search intent, as well as in the short video information flow e-commerce ads within the video accounts.
