Worldcoin Brasil

In Brazil alone, more than 730,000 people have already downloaded the World app, the WorldCoin cryptocurrency. As of today, Monday (23), more than 225,000 Brazilians have already scanned their irises for the humanity verification protocol.

This feat can be considered one of the largest crypto penetrations in the world. Across the globe, 9.37 million users have already completed verification, while 20.3 million have downloaded the app in more than 160 countries. To date, almost 395 million tokens have been distributed.

City of São Paulo verifies more than 225 thousand users in one month

In just one month, the Worldcoin team verified and validated 225,000 humans on the Worldcoin app at 25 locations in the capital of São Paulo. This is because after verification, users receive monthly rewards in WorldCoin.

To scan your iris and receive cryptocurrency as a reward, you need to download the World App, be over 18 years old, and schedule a date to do the scan. When choosing one of the points, the user will take a high-resolution capture of the image of the iris and face. Then, the data is converted by algorithms into a numerical representation called an iris code.

Iris is the safest and most reliable way to verify that people are unique human beings without asking for personally identifiable data such as name, age, address or document. The original iris images are then end-to-end encrypted, sent to the person's phone and promptly deleted from Orb, a statement explains.

But what caused this number to explode in such a short time?

Probably the reward in cryptocurrency that can be easily converted to Real and withdrawn via pix, through the World App.

Everyone in the neighborhood is getting it. I was suspicious because it's strange to give money for free. Why are they giving money? What do they want in return? I want to understand how you work with this.

The above statement is from Benedite Rodrigues Batista, 51, a resident of Campo Limpo, a neighborhood in the far south of the capital of São Paulo. She contacted BeInCrypto to find out if the project that has just arrived in São Paulo is genuine. The worker was worried that it was a scam.

Benedite, who works as a day laborer, said that more than 45 people in the neighborhood are already supplementing their income with Worldcoin. And she is happy to know that the scam in this case was a lucky one because she got to know about the project by Sam Altman, from OpenAI.

How World works

World is a decentralized protocol designed to distinguish genuinely human interactions from activities generated by artificial intelligence (AI). It seeks to expand access to the global digital economy and strengthen privacy and trust online.

With the advancement of AI, the internet becomes increasingly useful, but it also faces growing challenges such as malicious bots, deepfakes, identity fraud and misinformation.

A report by Imperva, called Bad Bot, revealed that almost half of global traffic in 2023 was generated by non-human systems. This is the highest rate in the last 10 years. In this context, creating a proof of humanity is essential to ensure, above all, a safe and productive coexistence between people and technologies in the digital environment.

Nine out of ten Brazilians support technology to differentiate humans from robots

A study by Tools for Humanity and Ipsos revealed that 91% of Brazilians are in favor of developing technologies that identify human interactions in the digital environment. In addition, 70% expressed concern about the origin of the content consumed, fearing that it is generated by bots.

The survey, carried out in November with 1,200 people in Brazil, highlights the growing demand for solutions that guarantee security and authenticity in online interactions.
