I have a cousin whose reputation is very bad. She dropped out of middle school and then frequented various bars, relying on her youth to seduce wealthy middle-aged men. After getting pregnant, she would demand a sum of money from them to leave the child with the father, and then she would find the next one to survive. It’s easy money (she could earn over a million in more than a year with one deal), but she doesn’t save the money; she spends it on buying houses and cars, and the rest goes to find male models... Most of the family doesn’t like her, but she gets along well with two people: one is her uncle (though they are from different generations, they are of the same age), and the other is my younger brother.
Both of these two are 'unemployed drifters'. It’s obvious that there are benefits to hanging out with her, as she pays for everything. After all, she is richer than the two of them, and they enjoy going out and having good food and drinks with her. Because other relatives don’t like her, only these two have no prejudice against her, so naturally, she treats them well.
My parents often kindly advised my brother to stay away from her, saying that following her would lead him astray. Once, forgetting something and short on cash, my brother asked her for a loan and quickly got it.
Father: You actually managed to get money from a scammer; you must have hit the jackpot.
Brother: It was a loan; I have to pay it back.
Father: She’s scamming people all over the world, so she should expect to be scammed by others as well. If she doesn’t pay back her money, no one will say anything; there’s no IOU. Whatever she says, people will surely believe you, not her.
Brother: Her scamming others is her business. She hasn’t scammed me, so I can’t scam her. I will pay her back later.
(When I paid her back later, she said, 'Oh, so there are people who voluntarily pay back loans. I’ve lent money to my uncle and never seen him pay it back... Forget it, you keep it.')
I had little contact with her, only hearing about her exploits from others.
In 2005, when I changed jobs and had a two-month gap, my uncle asked us brothers to help him out. But my uncle actually had no money; the company funding it was this so-called 'cousin'. So my 'fortunate' encounter with her was a four-hour self-driving journey from Guangzhou to Shantou. The first thing I heard her say was, 'Damn, I haven’t had sex for three or four days; I feel uncomfortable. When we arrive, I need to find someone to...'
Uncle: You can go several days without it?
Cousin: I found out I’m pregnant; it’s annoying these days.
Uncle: What about the old man from Hong Kong?
Cousin: I’m not worried about him; I’ve had sex with him every day and didn’t get pregnant. I found a gigolo and got pregnant in one go; young people are amazing...
Uncle: What do you plan to do, abort it?
Cousin: How could that be? I’ll definitely find someone to take over and make some money...
Later, thanks to this child, she got foreign citizenship and went abroad.
A few days ago, I saw my brother reposting her moments on social media. A 50-year-old woman who is very well-maintained, plus beauty filters, looks like a young girl, in the pool with a dozen muscular young men... A bunch of photos of male models feeding her fruit... She seems to be living a very extravagant life.
I asked my brother, has she not spent all her money over the years? My brother said she has changed many old men, and the current one is Thai, who just died last month, leaving her a large inheritance, so she took a group of male models home and is living in the old man's villa...
Everyone has their own way of living. As a 'bad girl' who dropped out of middle school, she seems to have taken an alternative route, but she has lived quite happily along the way.
