Looking back now, that guy who exchanged Bitcoin for pizza must be regretting it immensely!
In 2010, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz ordered two pizzas from Papa John's, priced at 10,000 Bitcoins. At current market prices, these two pizzas would cost over 978 million dollars.
As Bitcoin's price has continued to rise during each cycle, typically increasing by an order of magnitude or more each time: Hanyecz's costly mistake has become a permanent meme in the crypto community.
Industry executives and analysts currently predict that by 2025, Bitcoin's target price will reach 180,000 dollars, which could make the opportunity cost of 10,000 BTC around pizza day in 2025 close to 2 billion dollars.
Who can predict the future? So keep imagining!
