Tesla transfers 11,500 $BTC to unknown accounts, triggering liquidation!
Tesla Motors has recently been in the spotlight for transferring $765 million worth of Bitcoin to unknown accounts. These transfers were completed in more than 20 transactions, including a test transaction of Bitcoin worth less than $10.
Tesla completed this huge transfer involving 11,500 Bitcoins in one hour. This move has sparked speculation that Tesla may be about to liquidate Bitcoin.
It is reported that Tesla's Bitcoin wallet has not been active since June 2022. Prior to this, the number of Bitcoins held by the wallet ranked fourth among listed companies.
It is not clear whether Tesla still holds these Bitcoins, and the company has not officially responded to the reason for the transfer. The recipient account does not seem to be associated with any known cryptocurrency exchange, which further fuels speculation.
If Tesla really intends to sell these Bitcoins, Bitcoin prices may face pressure. Although Bitcoin prices are gradually approaching the historical high of $73,000, the overall trend is still downward.
Tesla's relationship with Bitcoin has been unstable and unpredictable. The company publicly admitted to buying $1.5 billion in Bitcoin in early 2021, but then sold 10% of its assets in the first quarter of the same year and sold 75% of the remaining assets in July 2022.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk once announced that he would accept Bitcoin as a payment method, but later suspended this decision due to concerns about the impact of Bitcoin mining on the environment. Musk's position on cryptocurrencies remains unclear, but he has expressed support for Dogecoin on many occasions.
Like Tesla, Musk's other company SpaceX also holds Bitcoin, with a total of 8,285 coins, which is worth far more than $560 million at current market prices. Bitcoin is currently trading at $67,658, up 9% in the past seven days.
