North Korea announced on Sunday that its artillery units stationed near the border have been instructed to stay on high alert, ready to engage if necessary. This development follows Pyongyang’s recent warning of a "horrible disaster" over alleged drone intrusions into its airspace. According to the North, South Korean drones reportedly flew over Pyongyang on three separate occasions this month.

Kim Yo-jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, issued a stern statement through state media, warning of immediate and decisive retaliation if any further drone incursions take place, especially those carrying anti-regime propaganda. She emphasized that an attack could be launched at any moment, signaling heightened tensions in the region.

In response, South Korea's defense ministry dismissed the accusations, with officials stating that any hostile actions from the North would lead to severe consequences, even suggesting it could mark the downfall of the Kim regime. North Korea's foreign ministry claimed the drones had entered its airspace on October 3 and on two other occasions later in the week. While South Korea's Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun initially denied any drone operations, the Joint Chiefs of Staff later admitted they were unable to confirm the North’s allegations.
