Optimism (OP), a well-known Layer 2 blockchain, has carried out its fifth airdrop, distributing 10.3 million OP tokens worth about $16 million to about 54,700 user addresses. The program is mainly aimed at rewarding participants who actively participate in the Superchain ecosystem (a network framework developed through the OP Stack).
How to select active users?
For the latest airdrop, Optimism specifically selected users from OP Mainnet, Base, and several other networks. Wallets that have interacted with at least 20 different contracts in Superchain between March 15, 2024 and September 15, 2024 are eligible for token distribution. Users have until February 13, 2025 to claim their rewards.
What new bonus conditions apply?
Different from the previous distribution method, additional reward criteria are introduced this time. Users can increase their rewards by transferring a specified number of OP tokens or participating in at least seven different networks in Superchain.
Optimism has distributed over 265 million OP tokens through five airdrops, with approximately 550 million OP tokens still reserved for future distributions. Since the first airdrop on May 31, 2022, subsequent distributions have taken place, with the last distribution being in February 2024.
