Bitcoin staking protocol Babylon opened the second round of staking "Cap-2" in the first phase of its Bitcoin staking mainnet earlier on Wednesday. During this period, the protocol increased the pledge amount by 22,891 BTC, with the total amount increasing from 1,000 BTC to 23,891 BTC, worth nearly $1.5 billion.

Babylon's second round of staking is time-based and lasts for 10 Bitcoin blocks. Staking starts from Bitcoin block height 864790, that is, all valid Bitcoin staking transactions contained in blocks 864790 to 864799 are accepted by the system. There is no value locked (TVL) limit. This is different from Cap-1 when the protocol first opened in August, which had an initial total staking cap of 1,000 BTC and was filled within 1 hour and 14 minutes.

Babylon announced on the social platform Babylon reminds that the pledges starting from block 864800 are in overflow status, and users need to unbundle and withdraw their overflow pledges as soon as possible.

David Tse, co-founder of Babylon and an engineering professor at Stanford University, said in an email to CoinDesk that the scale of this round of inflows "far exceeded our expectations."
